Terms of Service
The short version
childKompass gives guidance, not treatment. You are the parent, and every decision is yours. If something is urgent or clinical, contact a professional; the Wayfinder will tell you when we think that’s the case.
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and ParenTech Inc., which operates childKompass. By creating an account, joining the beta or using the service, you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use childKompass.
2. Who may use childKompass
Adults aged 18 or over who are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose information they enter. During the private beta, access is by invitation, and we may open or close it at our discretion.
3. What childKompass is not
It is not medical, psychological, legal or educational advice, and using it does not create a clinician–patient relationship. It does not diagnose. It is not an emergency service. If your child is in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. For a mental health crisis in the US, call or text 988.
4. AI-generated guidance
The Wayfinder uses AI. Its answers can be incomplete or wrong, so use your own judgment, and check anything important with a qualified professional.
5. Your account
Keep your login details private, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has them. You are responsible for activity on your account. Only enter information about other people, such as a co-parent or caregiver, that is yours to share.
6. Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, process it and show it back to you as part of the service. We do not claim ownership of it. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle it.
7. Our service
childKompass, including its software, design, content and brand, belongs to ParenTech. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use it for your family.
8. Acceptable use
Don’t use childKompass to harm a child or anyone else, to impersonate someone, to copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell the service, or to break the law. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
9. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without obligation to you.
10. Beta software
childKompass is in private beta. Features will change, break and disappear. The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, ParenTech is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the past 12 months or $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Pricing
The private beta is free. If we introduce paid plans, you will see the price and terms, and agree to them, before you are ever charged, and you will be able to cancel at any time.
13. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time and take your data with you. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken. Sections 3, 4, 6, 10, 11 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.
14. Changes to these terms
If we make a change that matters, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use childKompass after that means you accept the updated terms.
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and is part of these terms.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States.
