Our promise

We promise to never sell your data.

You can see, export, correct or delete everything, whenever you want. And no one can pay to change what childKompass recommends.

Everything below explains, in more detail, what we collect and what we do with it.

1. Who we are

childKompass is operated by ParenTech Inc. (“ParenTech,” “we,” “us”), a Delaware corporation. This policy covers the childKompass app and childkompass.com. Questions go to team@childkompass.com.

2. What we collect

• Account information: your email address, and the name and password you set.
• Information about your child: your child’s age, and anything else you choose to share, including notes, questions and your conversations with the Wayfinder. This can include information about your child’s development, health, learning and behavior. Only an age is required.
• Information about other people: anything you choose to mention about others in your child’s life, such as a co-parent or teacher.
• Usage and device information: which features are used, device type, app version and crash reports, so we can keep the service working and improve it. We never use it to build advertising profiles.
• Beta sign-ups: your email address.
• Messages you send us: through the contact form or by email.

3. How we use it

To provide guidance tailored to your child, to keep your account secure, to fix and improve the service, and to email you about childKompass. We do not use your family’s information to target ads, and we do not let anyone pay to influence what the Wayfinder tells you.

4. AI and your data

The Wayfinder uses AI models, some provided by third parties. When you ask a question, the relevant information is processed to generate an answer. Those providers are contractually limited to serving your request; they may not keep your data or use it to train their own models. We do not use your family’s data to train general-purpose AI models.

5. Who we share it with

• Service providers that help us run childKompass (hosting, AI model providers, email, analytics and error monitoring), under contracts that let them use your data only on our instructions.
• When the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or anyone else.
• If ParenTech is ever acquired or merged, your information would move with the service, still protected by this policy, and we would tell you first.

We never sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses only the cookies it needs to work, plus privacy-friendly analytics to understand which pages are visited. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We honor Global Privacy Control signals.

7. Children’s privacy

childKompass is for adults aged 18 or over who are a child’s parent or legal guardian. Children do not have accounts and do not log in. Information about a child is entered by, and controlled by, their parent or legal guardian, and only a child’s parent or legal guardian decides who can see and do what. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

8. Your rights and choices

You can export a copy of everything, correct anything that’s wrong, or delete a child’s record or your whole account, in the app or by writing to team@childkompass.com. Deletion is permanent: we remove your data from our live systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. We won’t try to talk you out of it.

Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights: to know what we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data. We do not sell your data or share it for targeted advertising. We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorized agent.

9. Health-related information

Some information you share about your child may be treated as health data under certain state laws. We use it only to provide childKompass to you, we never sell it, and you can delete it at any time.

10. How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open. When you close your account, we delete your data as described in section 8. Beta sign-up emails are kept until you join or ask us to remove them.

11. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access by our staff is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.

12. Where your data is stored

In the United States.

13. Changes to this policy

If we make a change that matters, we will email you before it takes effect. Our promise never to sell your data is not something we intend to change.
