Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how childKompass (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our websites, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
childKompass provides tools to help families organize child development goals, planning, and related guidance. For privacy-related questions, contact us at hello@childkompass.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account data: such as name, email address, authentication identifiers, and preferences you provide when you register or sign in.
- Profile and family content: information you enter about children or family context (for example, age ranges, goals, notes, or uploads you choose to add) to personalize the Service.
- Connected Google account data (optional): if you connect Google, we may access information you authorize through Google OAuth (for example, email content or metadata needed for school-related summaries or planner features). We only request access necessary to provide the features you enable, and you can disconnect access at any time through your Google account or in-app controls where available.
- Usage and device data: such as log data, approximate location derived from IP address, device type, browser type, pages or features used, and diagnostic information to operate and improve the Service and protect security.
- Communications: messages you send to us (for example, support requests).
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and new features;
- Authenticate users and secure accounts;
- Personalize guidance, planning, and summaries based on information you provide or authorize;
- Process optional integrations (such as Google) that you choose to enable;
- Monitor and analyze usage trends and performance;
- Comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect rights and safety.
Where we use automated or AI-assisted processing to generate suggestions or summaries, outputs are intended as informational aids. You remain responsible for decisions affecting your family.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
- Service providers: with vendors who process data on our behalf (for example, hosting, analytics, or email delivery), subject to confidentiality and security obligations.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, us, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with financings, mergers, or acquisitions, with appropriate safeguards.
- With your direction: when you ask us to share information or connect third-party services.
5. Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods may vary based on the type of data and how you use the Service. You may request deletion of your account subject to applicable law and legitimate business needs (for example, security logs).
6. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete certain personal information;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Export information you provided;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, contact hello@childkompass.com. You may also revoke third-party access (such as Google) through your provider's security settings.
8. Children and COPPA
The Service is intended for use by parents, guardians, or adult caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If you believe we have collected information from a child without proper consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. International users
If you access the Service from outside the country where we operate, your information may be processed in countries that may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may require additional notice where required by law.
