Our vision

We innovate to enhance the most personal aspects of human life — meaningfully.

How we started

It began three years ago, with one father.

01

Three years before starting childKompass, our CEO took a step back from his career to spend more time with his daughter. He expected those months to be about presence and quality time. They turned out to be about how little he knew.

02

The more hours he spent, the clearer it got: he had been flying blind. Patterns he had never noticed amid a hectic routine. Some signals were worrying enough to raise questions about whether his daughter had cognitive or developmental challenges.

03

Pursuing it relentlessly, what he found was the opposite. It was giftedness wearing the symptoms of difficulty, because her faculties were not being nurtured. The same behaviour, a different cause, an entirely different response. His blind spot was not the problem — the missing structure and the hard-to-reach science that created it was. We get eighteen years to shape a child, and there is no real instrumentation when it matters most.

04

He talked about it over lunch with a friend whose children were a different age. Friends became co-founders, and the conversation ended in a build rather than a plan. The childKompass Alpha shipped the following week to thirty friends and family — not to launch, but to test whether the problem was as universal as they suspected. It was more universal than they had imagined. One of those parents related to it so deeply that he came out of retirement to join, and he is now our third co-founder.

“We owe this to our children.”

This was their sentiment that week. It has only grown stronger as more people have joined in.

Our philosophy

The Kompass Kode

We want this place to hold all the positivity in the world, because the work is about children. So we have been deliberate about how we operate. Twelve rules we hire against, argue about, and get held to.

01

We build. Parents use. But even an unborn child outranks everyone.

02

Bold dreams are the only inheritance our children deserve.

03

We do not ship anything unless we'd give it to our own child.

04

We iterate fast and learn. Speed isn't an excuse for sloppiness.

05

AI is leverage we control. Judgements remain human.

06

If we touch it, it is ours until we complete it.

07

We always speak up to fix things, but never to hurt people.

08

We always prefer a humble student over a cynical scholar.

09

We will never know it all and are always hungry to learn.

10

We intentionally refuse to trade between depth and breadth. We do it all.

11

We are cheap when it does not matter, but generous when it does.

12

Org structures facilitate work, never the other way around.
